Publication Process
Manuscripts submitted to JFU normally proceed through the following stages:
- Submission. The corresponding author submits the manuscript, metadata, declarations, and required files through the online system.
- Technical Screening. The Journal Office checks completeness, file format, template compliance, metadata, required declarations, similarity concerns, and anonymization.
- Editorial Screening. The Editor-in-Chief or a delegated non-conflicted editor assesses scope, originality, reporting quality, methodological suitability, ethical compliance, and readiness for external review.
- Reviewer Assignment. A manuscript that passes editorial screening is normally assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
- Double-Anonymous Peer Review. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript while author and reviewer identities are withheld from one another. Reviewers assess scientific quality, methods, analysis, reporting, ethics, and contribution to physics.
- Editorial Decision. The editor may decide accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Reviewer recommendations are advisory; the final decision belongs to the designated non-conflicted editor.
- Revison. Where revision is invited, authors submit a revised manuscript and a point-by-point response. The editor decides whether further peer review is required.
- Final Decision. The designated editor assesses the complete record and communicates the final decision and reasons.
- production. Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, layout, metadata and declaration verification, reference and link checks, and author proofing.
- Publication. The version of record is published with its bibliographic information, DOI, copyright and license wording, and applicable declarations.
- Post-Publication Maintenance. Corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or other updates are handled under JFU’s post-publication policies.
Service Targets
JFU aims to complete the initial editorial screening within approximately 14 days and peer review within the period stated on the journal website. These are targets rather than guarantees. Authors will be informed of material delays where practicable.
