Abstract
The optical fiber as Mesran oil SAE 20W-50 viscosity sensor based of the temperature changes has been applied. The design ofthissystem consisting of a laser diode (λ = 650 nm), the optical fiber FD-620-10, OPT photodetector 101. The sample is Mesran oil SAE 20W-50. Testing of fiber optic sensor system was performed on two conditions, namely when the oil is heated at a temperature of 30 oC to 100 oC and when the oil is cooled to a temperature of 100 oC to 30 oC with a back given interval is 5 oC. The highest output voltage value obtained at a temperature of 100 °C, which is 0.168 V (when heated) and 0.171 V (when cooled). Lowest output voltage value obtained at a temperature of 30 °C, 0.105 V (when heated) and 0,101 V (when cooled). Value regression of the output voltage obtained when the oil is heated 0.915 and when cooled 0.8586. If the temperature higher then output voltage produced and the lower the viscosity of the oil.
