Archiving Policy

JFU is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. Our comprehensive archiving policy is designed to safeguard all articles and ensure they remain accessible to researchers, institutions, and the public over time.

1. Digital Archiving

All published articles in JFU are archived in multiple trusted repositories to guarantee their long-term preservation. These repositories ensure that the content remains available, even in the event of technical failure or unforeseen circumstances. Our archiving systems provide:

  • Permanent digital preservation to protect the journal's content for future reference.
  • Redundancy and backup in geographically distributed servers to prevent data loss.

2. Institutional Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit their published articles in their institutional or subject-specific repositories. Self-archiving is fully supported by JFU, and authors may deposit both preprints and postprints (final published versions) without embargo, provided they include proper attribution to the journal.

3. Open Access and Long-Term Availability

As an open-access journal, all articles published in JFU are freely accessible on the journal’s website and will remain permanently available to all users without any subscription or paywall barriers. To further ensure accessibility:

  • JFU uses the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), which allows articles to be harvested by other digital libraries, increasing the discoverability of published work.
  • All content is indexed by major academic databases, enhancing the visibility and accessibility of the journal's publications.

4. Preservation Partnerships

JFU collaborates with reputable digital preservation services, including university libraries and other international archiving platforms, to store its content securely and maintain its long-term availability. We are committed to exploring additional partnerships with digital preservation organizations that adhere to open standards and best practices in archiving.

  • JFU has established partnerships with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a system that preserves scholarly publications by creating multiple copies across a distributed network of libraries and organizations. This ensures redundancy and enhances the chances of long-term survival of published articles.
  • The journal also utilizes OneSearch, which aggregates content from various trusted repositories to enhance the discoverability and preservation of JFU articles in a wide range of institutional and subject-specific repositories.

5. Article Versioning

JFU maintains records of all submitted and published versions of manuscripts, including original submissions, peer-reviewed revisions, and final versions. Any updates or corrections to published articles, such as errata or retractions, will be clearly indicated and linked to the original article to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
