PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN INHIBITOR EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH MANGGIS TERHADAP PENURUNAN LAJU KOROSI BAJA ST-37

ABSTRAK
Penelitian tentang pengaruh penambahan inhibitor ekstrak kulit buah manggis terhadap laju korosi baja St-37 menggunakan metode potensiodinamik telah dilakukan. Medium korosif yang digunakan adalah NaCl 3% dengan variasi konsentrasi inhibitor ekstrak kulit buah manggis yang digunakan adalah 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% dan 10%. Penambahan inhibitor ke dalam larutan NaCl dapat menurunkan laju korosi. Efisiensi inhibitor korosi yang paling besar terjadi pada konsentrasi 2% dengan efisiensi 26,05%. Hal ini juga terlihat dari analisis foto optik morfologi dimana permukaan baja dengan penambahan ekstrak kulit buah manggis 2% mengalami korosi paling sedikit.

Abstract
A research about the influence of addition of inhibitors from mangoesteen peel extract to the corrosion rate of steel St-37 using the potentiodynamic method has been done. Corrosive medium used is NaCl 3% and the concentrations of the extract used are 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%. The addition of inhibitor to NaCl solution results decreasing of corrosion rate. The results showed that the maximum efficiency of corrosion inhibition occur at inhibitor concentration of 2% with efficiency 26.05%. Optical photographs morphology of St-37 steel from optical photographs showed that the addition of 2% mangosteen peel extract suffered least corrosion.
