Abstract
The research to determine the value of magnetic susceptibility guano of Baba cave, District Lubuk Kilangan, Padang by using Anisotropic of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS) methode and susceptibility meter has been done. Guano samples taken based on depth variation from five sites. The depth variation are 0 cm, 10 cm, and 20 cm from the surface. The measurement of temperature and humidity values shows that their values are almost the same for each site. From the calculation, the average value of magnetic susceptibility of guano from Baba cave obtained are from 240.91 × 10-8 m3/kg until 46.94 × 10-8 m3/kg. The results show that the mineral magnetic guano of Baba cave is dominated by hematite. The average value of of magnetic susceptibility of guano based on depth variation for all sites are 308.26 × 10-8 m3/kg, 319.62 × 10-8 m3/kg and 347.39 × 10-8 m3/kg. It is also found that magnetic susceptibility of guano is directly proportional to depth.
