ABSTRACT
This research has been conducted to determine pollution profile of Siak river in Pekanbaru based on physical and chemical parameters. Samples were collected in November 2013 at ten sites within 1 km distance. From each site, sample were taken at  three spots, two in riverside and one in the midstream. Parameters measured were electrical conductivity, temperature, total dissolved solid (TDS), pH and heavy metal content. The results showed that the electrical conductivity of Siak river water ranged from 37.7µS to 39.53µS with 38.7µS average. The temperature of Siak river water ranges from 28°C to 32.2°C with 29.9°C average. Siak river water temperature is higher than the surrounding air temperatur. The result of this research that Fe (2.193 mg / L), have the highest concentration and followed by Zn (1.954 mg / L), Cu (0.526 mg/L) and Pb (0.089 mg / L). The average value of TDS sample is (70.4 mg/L) whichis classified as soft water. The average value of the pH is (5.37 mg /L) whichis classified as acid water. So, in terms of  TDS, pH, electrical conductivity and heavy metal concentration, Siak river in Pekanbaru has been contaminated where all of these parameters value are above the standard of water quality for the industry in Indonesia, according to the Minister of Environment Regulation Number 04 Year 2010 .
Keywords: electrical conductivity, TDS, temperature, the degree of acidity( pH), heavy metal pollution
